Dear all, I had hoped to be sending Irv a birthday card this March 25th as usual. My birthday is the same day, and I have enjoyed exchanging birthday wishes with him each year. Since I am a Carolina grad, it has also given us an opportunity to spar with each other during March Madness. This year Duke has lost its most loyal cheerleader, and I have lost a mentor and friend. I feel blessed to have known Irv. He was special man who touched the lives of so many people in his 91 years. This Sunday(3/25)I will blow out a few candles for him, sift through some "Irv" memories, and celebrate a beautiful life. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
